Epistemological Meanings of Laughter in Nietzsche’s Philosophy

Antoni Płoszczyniec

The aim of article is analyze of various meanings, in which frames of the presence of laughter in Nietzsche’s epistemology can be understood. One can see significant connection between his epistemology and laughter especially in critique of knowledge, where laughter is both a tool, and a result of philosophical thought. Strong relations are tying laughter with ‘joyous wisdom’ and project of aestheticization of cognition, where laughter is shown as result of recognition of perspective character of all knowledge and rejecting the absolute truth for criterion of the growth of will to power. The article is ending with remarks about the wit, treated as some virtue of the mind and also as a certain cognitive power.
