Zbigniew Ogonowski in memoriam: A Stroll Down Memory Lane on Friendship and Collaboration

On 27 September 2018 Zbigniew Ogonowski, professor emeritus at Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of Polish Academy of Sciences, passed away in Warsaw. He was historian of philosophy and religious thought, an expert in the field of social and political philosophy of the early modern period, who devoted his whole life and scholarly career to the study of Socinianism of Polish Brethren and its intellectual history. He was not only one of the most renowned experts in the world on the said topic, but also a consummate specialist within the fi eld of Polish and European philosophy of the early modern period.

Juliusz Domański (born in 1927) – Professor emeritus at both Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Institute of Classical Philology of the Warsaw University. Active member of The Polish Academy of Learning, associate member of the Warsaw Scientific Society, member of the Polish Philological Society, Polish Philosophical Society and of the International Society for the History of Rhetoric, member of the Programme Board of the “Archive of the History of Philosophy and Social Thought”. Renowned expert in the field of history of Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance philosophy, classical philologist specializing in neolatinism. In 2007 he was awarded Priest Idzi Radziszewski Award by KUL Scientific Society in recognition of his lifetime scholarly achievements in the spirit of Christian humanism.   »
