From AHPST vol. 1, 1957 (Editors’ preface)
“A few words are due to the readers who are taking in their hands the very first volume of AHPST.
The Journal was originally conceived as a professional publication, intended chiefly for the readership particularly interested in the detailed problems of the history of philosophy and social thought. The lack of such a periodical has been felt for a long time; the gap couldn’t be filled by a “Philosophical Thought”, which admittedly publishes papers regarding aforementioned issues but, however, due to its wide area of interests it could not function as a professional and specialist journal concerned predominantly with the history of philosophy.
AHPST intends to publish both source documents and monographic essays, historical studies, proceedings etc.
AHPST will be issued continuously but not periodically. Each single volume is supposed to contain more or less 300 pages and to be published roughly at an half-yearly intervals after each other. A special series of publications devoted to the history of medieval philosophy is expected to be released as well.”
The Editorial Office of AHPST is housed at the Department of History of Philosophy and Social Thought of the IFiS PAN.
